At the mere hint of a lockdown – I knew it was time to get out of the big city and find place of refuge. I remember an old friend had moved to a place called “Paradise Valley” and that sounded like the perfect hide out for a few weeks. I wasn’t sure where that was, exactly, but I knew it was somewhere in Montana. I trusted the still small voice of my GPS – and the further North we travelled it became clear that I would need to stop and buy some long pants. Then long underwear – then gloves and a few Carhartt jackets. Then Canada Goose. You can’t go wrong with the right clothes in a place like Montana!
That two-week trip turned into a complete life change. My friend took me from the awe-inspiring, breathtaking views of her valley, into a small community called Livingston. I fell hard. I knew that this would have to be home. I had all my possessions packed and shipped and I accidentally opened Trû North Café on May 10, 2020. This was the best decision of my life. In addition to the breathtaking scenery, I quickly fell in love with the community. I’ve made more friends here in a few short months than I had in years living in an urban center. Here you will find authors, artists, musicians, ranchers and all the cool kids! Come visit. But I must warn you, you may never leave. And that may be the best decision of your life. I know it was for me.
If you ever find yourself in Livingston, MT do yourself a favor and visit Trû North. I needed a caffeine fix and tried to walk in at 3:18, James(the owner) opened the door and let my friend and I in even though he closed at 3. What a nice place accompanied by even greater people. James not only gave us his time and talked to us about life, but he makes a GREAT cup of coffee. Seriously, the cloud was one of the best coffees I've had in a long while. Trû North is a MUST!!!

The Maple Mountain Cloud is worth the attention they push on it. It is one of the best specialty coffee drinks I've ever had. The place has a comfy, artistic decor and is ran by a delightfully charming and kind gentleman who makes you feel welcome the moment you walk through the door.

I just have to rave about this place! I love their warm, welcoming presence - the baristas greet almost all the patrons by name. And if they don't? They introduce themselves and genuinely care about getting to know you. Great drinks, eccentric atmosphere. Perfect, place for a coffee date. We will be back!
